Confidentiality & Virtual Care

Last updated: 2025-11-04

Resolve Men's Therapy is committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) standards and Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).

Our commitment

  • We treat your information with respect and maintain confidentiality to the extent required by law and professional standards.
  • We use secure systems for scheduling, telehealth, and recordkeeping. Clinical records are not stored on this public website.

Limits of confidentiality

Confidentiality has important legal and ethical limits. We may be required or permitted to disclose information without your consent in situations such as:

  • Imminent risk of serious harm to you or others.
  • Reasonable grounds to suspect abuse or neglect of a child, or other mandatory reporting situations under Ontario law.
  • If a court order, warrant, or other legal process compels disclosure.
  • To obtain or provide clinical supervision/consultation while limiting identifying details and using the minimum necessary information.
  • To collect an outstanding account or as otherwise permitted or required by law.

Supervision and consultation

  • To ensure quality of care, your therapist may discuss cases in supervision or peer consultation. Identifying details are minimized wherever possible and shared on a need‑to‑know basis.

Electronic communication risks

  • Email and other electronic communications can be intercepted or misdirected. Please avoid sending personal health information (PHI) by email.
  • For sensitive matters, use our secure client platforms for messaging, scheduling, and document exchange.

Virtual care considerations

  • Sessions occur via secure video. You are responsible for choosing a private, quiet location and a reliable internet connection.
  • If connectivity issues arise, we will work together to reschedule or use alternate modes as appropriate.

Records and access

  • Clinical records are created and stored in secure systems, not on this website. Access and correction requests for your health record can be initiated by contacting us; we will guide you through the custodian's process under PHIPA.

Emergencies and crisis

  • Therapy sessions and email are not monitored for emergencies. If you are in crisis or immediate danger, call 911, 9‑8‑8 (Canada), or go to the nearest emergency department.
  • Additional resources: Talk Suicide Canada (1‑833‑456‑4566), 211 Ontario (https://211ontario.ca/).
